I chose wonky courthouse steps for my December one monthly goal at elm street quilts. I think this will be the last finish for the year. I have met my goal for the phd 21. I started this in 2019 as a fun side project using my smallest scraps. Making this was very therapeutic. Bonnie Hunter is offering this pattern as a freebie and it is downloadable on her site. I can't believe it is December already and time to choose a new one monthly goal at elm street quilts. I dug out my wonky courthouse steps to assess what I needed to do. I have decided not to add borders, so, I need a back, binding, and quilting done for this fun quilt. I think I made 3 of these quilts and this one is larger at 85x 90. I made all 3 of these quilts on my singer treadle.
This cute donation quilt is finished. I bought this as a kit a few years ago. I thought it would make a cute boy donation quilt. This is my one monthly goal for November too.
I had it to the top stage here at the beginning of the month and now it is finished. I really like the fabric.

bonnie hunter has released the new mystery fabric requirements
I took 2 years of sewing with the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy to make the pieces for this single Irish chain by melissa correy. I made the 4 patches in 2019, and the sashings in 2020 according to the color of the month. The top was a top in November 2020. It was an easy, unstressful pattern, and then, it was a great quilt.
I didn't finish my one monthly goal for August until September, and, I didn't even make a goal for September. I have 45 of my own quilts in the 'to be quilted' closet. Which is ridiculous. I have set a goal to work on the longarm with my own quilts at least 30 minutes each day until the end of the year. I wonder how many I can do with just 30 minutes. I am also hoping that once I start I will just keep going past 30 minutes. But, we are still finishing the garden.

this past week I started working on an older ufo - on the go. It was a kit I bought in 2014 for a donation quilt. It is bright and colorful and easy. I added the outside borders this morning. It was raining or I would have a better picture. I have fabric for the binding, but, I will need to find a suitable backing in my stash. Then, it will live with the other quilts waiting to be quilted.

read moreI have a finish....finally. Based on cynthia Brunz's wiggle time pattern. I have made it before in rainbow colors. I really like it. Anytime I have a fun children's print, I can cut this pattern, and, have pieces ready for a donation quilt or a quick ( relatively) gift. It's nice to have green for a backdrop again.

read moreWe had a Spring surprise this week...snow and 3-4 inches. It was so pretty. There were big fluffy flakes falling against a blue sky. And it accumulated through the night. Snow in April is much more fun than snow in January. We know it just won't last, and, we can just enjoy it.
I have a finish. The floating stars quilt is finished. It seemed to take forever to just add border and quilt and bind. Now that it is done, I think it will be a gift for a new Grandson coming in May.

It was part of the huge reorganization of ufo projects. I felt sorry for it. I knew it would not get picked as the top ten projects for many years to come. It would just sit there, looking sad every time, that it was not chosen. And, all I would have to do is sew a few 2 1/2 inch strips together, that are already cut.

read moreI cracked open the sparkle box and started sewing the blocks. I had already cut this out a few years ago. It seemed an easy project to tackle. I am using this UFO for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Green is the color for March and a good Christmas quilt has plenty of green. I played round and round with chain piecing the squares in a square.
I am happy to report I have the quilt done for boxy stars in yellow and black. I started this in 2016 to use a jelly roll. I have worked on it as part of the rainbow scrap challenge this year. February's color is yellow. This is an older UFO that would not make it into the top 10 quilts I want to finish, but, still needs some attention. It is good to clean out some of these types of UFOs. read moreMy ufo # 2 and #3 for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy was 2 pink flannel baby quilts. I didn't know, when I opened the box, if I had just collected the fabric, or, had it cut for what I needed. I saw labels on the fabric, so I was excited to learn it was already cut and ready to sew.
